In our CrossFit classes you will see bits and pieces of plyometrics, gymnastics, rowing, sprinting, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and jumping all combined into one program that will take you to an elite level of fitness. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. They are Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.
All of this is applied into small group classes that are instructor led. Training with your friends does more than make the experience a ton of fun. Our classes are full of energy and motivation and everyone pushes each other to be a better version of themselves. Training with others also holds you accountable to staying on track. If you miss a couple days you will probably hear it from your class mates to get you back into the gym!
This is BayWay CrossFit’s weightlifting and strength class! Our main focus with this class will be improving the efficiency of the snatch and clean & jerk but will subsequently make everyone in the program better at CrossFit.
Nearly 40% of all CrossFit workouts involve some type of Olympic movement or accessory work. Being strong and efficient at these movements would allow one of Baytwon Barbell’s athletes to gain an advantage on their peers. So in short if you can snatch and clean & jerk better you will be better at CrossFit.
Olympic lifting allows an athlete to learn the way their body moves. Muscle synchronization, balance, flexibility, and coordination as well as strength, speed, power, and metabolic development are all things you can expect to develop while training with Baytown Barbell. Olympic lifting also allows an athlete to understand how to produce force. Force, in terms of strength training and athleticism, is the body’s ability to recruit and initiate muscular contraction. Greater ability to produce force means greater ability to act upon external load, greater ability to control/manipulate the body in space, and greater ability to maintain efficiency with higher-repetition sub-maximal endeavors.
Our main focus at BayWay CrossFit is our group classes, but we understand that not everyone is ready for group classes just yet. The best way to get you comfortable is with one-on-one training sessions where we can dedicate 100% of our attention to you. One-on-one training sessions are also perfect for athletes who have hit a plateau or need to work on a specific skill or movement that’s holding them back.
These sessions are the most effective and efficient way to achieve your personal fitness goals – especially when the WOD is just not enough to get you to where you want to be. One of the BWCF coaches will work with you to help define your goals, conduct a comprehensive assessment of your fitness level, and train you through a program designed specifically for your needs.
Yoga is an ancient practice with orgins stretching back thousands of years. It is designed to help achieve a more positive outlook on life, hone your mental focus, rid your system of toxins, and increase athletic performance to through the building of better range of motion.
Currently we are working on establishing a permanent yoga class here at our facility but as of right now we are doing pop up classes during the week and a couple Saturdays a month. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as well as our website for updates on what those days will be.
We are one of the few CrossFit gyms in the area that provide an Open Gym Option to their members. This is a couple hours each day that they gym is open to anyone who wants to use it. This is a great time for someone who miss a workout and wants to make it up or someone who wants to workout on their own thing outside of classes. We offer Open Gym memberships to members and non-members.
